In this interactive worksheet, students match up qualitative adjectives, also known as descriptive adjectives, or attributive adjectives. The adjectives in the left column have been emphasised/modified with ‘very’, e.g. ‘very cold’. The adjectives on the right are their equivalents, e.g. ‘freezing’, but in random order.
Students must click and drag each of the adjectives on the right to match up with its equivalent on the left. They then save the file and send it back to you for assessment. The worksheet contains these instructions and the first pairing (‘very cold’ = ‘freezing’) has been done for them. By completing this task, students will learn and practice finding alternative adjectives to common adjectives with ‘very’.
This task is suited to intermediate students (B1) and can be imported into Google Slides for assignment via Google Classroom. Alternatively, it can be emailed to them directly, if they have Microsoft Office or Libre OfficeΒ installed.
