Description

In this present simple yes/no questions group activity, students complete present simple statements about their classmates. They must then find out if they guessed correctly by asking questions of the form “Do you…?”

Procedure

Give each student a copy of the worksheet. For each statement on the worksheet, students must pick a classmate that they think the statement applies to, writing down their name in the space provided.

When everyone has finished, they must go around the class to each person named on their worksheet. They then ask their classmate a present simple question using “Do you…?”, such as “Alice, do you like karaoke?’, to which their classmate replies either “Yes, I do” or “No, I don’t”.

The student then marks their statement as right or wrong, depending on the answer.

They must then ask a present simple follow-up question, such as “Which instrument do you play?”, filling in the last column on their worksheet.

When the students have all finished, have a feedback session to find out who had the most correct statements and for students to talk about what they learned.
